RETIRED COLLEGE PRINCIPALS AND TEACHERS FEDERATION
(AFFILIATED TO AIFRUCTO)

President's Message

Dr. A S Malhotra

President

Time once past can never be recalled. We cannot bring back the past at any cost, but we can learn a lot from the past. Moreover, the ‘yesterday’ (past) is that foundation on which the ‘present’ stands. The experience of ‘yesterday’ (past) guides us to the right path.

The ‘yesterday’, about which I am talking, is eight years old when we formed the Federation, and each of us promised to work wholeheartedly and diligently for the welfare of our retired brethren.

At the very outset, we sorted out the problems faced by us. These were not one or two but numerous, namely, timely payment of pension, the arrears of pension and gratuity, implementation of e-pension scheme, etc. And then there was a big issue of disparity created by the Haryana government between the pensioners of government-aided colleges and those of government colleges. The government gave the following retiral benefits to the pensioners of government colleges but denied us on one pretext or the other - the fixation of pension of pre-2006 pensioners, including of service rendered in the govt.-aided colleges for the purpose of pension and gratuity, complete retiral benefits of service after 28 years of service, leave encashment, etc. We held talks with the Chief Minister and Ministers of Haryana Government, and officials concerned for resolving the issues but no attention was paid to the discrepancies pointed out by us. Above all, a large number of letters written by us were also not heeded to.

We were constrained to file cases against the government of Haryana in the Punjab & Haryana High Court at Chandigarh for seeking justice, and we have won all the cases that have been decided so far by the Hon’ble Court. Some cases are still pending in the Court, and we have full faith in the Judiciary that justice would be meted to us.

This is not the end but the beginning of the struggle for getting our just demands accepted in one way or the other. We are living in a democratic country, and it is a well-known fact that numbers count in a democracy. Therefore, we should have a strong Federation to exert pressure on the government for getting our just demands accepted. Let us enroll maximum number of members to have a strong organization.

The meetings of the Federation are held from time to time to discuss the issues concerning the welfare of our community. The problems of the individuals are also taken note of and are got solved from the department.

Friends, let us join hands and work together for the well-being of our fraternity.
